State Senator will be joining the San Ramon Valley Democratic Club for an evening of discussion of hot topic issues around the Bay Area and the State. Key issues include the Bay Bridge Construction and budgeting issues, other Bay Area transportation issues, balancing the state budget and ending poverty and inequality throughout the state. Senator DeSaulnier will also be discussing his upcoming Congressional race to fill Rep George Miller’s seat. After his remarks, Senator DeSaulnier will participate in a Q/A session with club members.

Senator Mark DeSaulnier represents the 7th Senate District which includes most of Contra Costa County and the Tri-Valley cities in Alameda County. As Chair of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee, DeSaulnier has fought for greater accountability on the state’s transportation infrastructure projects.

Mark has also taken measures to increase the availability of affordable housing: he is the current author of the California Homes and Jobs Act (SB 391). Through his other committee assignments, DeSaulnier has been a strong advocate for the more vulnerable populations of California, introducing legislation to support underserved, homeless, and foster youth. In 2013, Senator DeSaulnier founded the Ending Poverty and Inequality in California Caucus. Other top priorities include: safeguarding against corporate sales tax giveaways, fighting prescription drug abuse, protecting homeowners against foreclosure, and supporting safe and efficient transportation systems.
