Seth Baruch is an internationally-recognized expert in the development of projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He has been involved in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects since the early 1990s and worked to certify green power programs across the country. Seth has been helping Alameda County set up a Community Choice Aggregation program, analyzing the potential economic and environmental benefits of such an initiative in Alameda. This effort encouraged the Board of Supervisors to authorize $1.3 million to assess the feasibility of CCA in the County.

In May 2010, the nation’s first Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) committed to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and increased use of renewable power launched in Marin County. Since then, MCE Clean Energy has grown to serve over 100,000 customers with a minimum energy portfolio of 50% CA qualified renewables. The Agency has established net energy metering and feed-in-tariff programs and its long-term Power Purchase Agreement have spurred the development of nearly 60MW of new solar, wind and landfill gas in the State. The program that was once branded a “risky scheme” is proving economically viable and is expanding its service territory and its roster of programs and services.
As MCE’s Community Affairs Coordinator Alex DiGiorgio collaborates with stakeholders though out MCE’s service area to advance sustainable development programs and expand access to cost-effective renewable energy. By cultivating partnerships with residents, businesses, local leaders and community groups, Alex helps MCE provide the highest possible quality of service. To this end, he conducts strategic outreach and advocacy, and helps manage MCE’s 100% renewable Deep Green program. Alex has been particularly excited to work with the City of Richmond, where his father and grandfather were small business owners, and his mother worked as a reporter for the Richmond Independent.
