Dear

Please join me in voting for Joan Buchanan in the special election for the vacant District 7 state Senate seat. Mail in your ballot marked for Joan ASAP or vote in person on March 17 and tell your friends to do the same. The election will be close, and every vote is important.

As________________________, I have had the opportunity to meet and learn about our elected officials, and I have found Joan, who served in the Assembly for the past six years, to be the most diligent and intelligent candidate and the one whom I can trust to make decisions for the good of everyone. She has, in fact, been the go-to person when other legislators need clarification on complicated bills.

Joan has distinguished herself as an advocate for education; she chaired the Assembly Education Committee; received the endorsement of the California Teachers Association, and served on the San Ramon school board for 18 years. She is also a powerhouse of knowledge about environmental topics, including water and energy, and she will work to restore the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to preserve fisheries and farming.

She legislates in a fiscally responsible way, ensuring that the state budget is balanced and on time. Her ability to do this is informed by both school board and private sector experience.

In addition, she has not attracted the large donations from powerful interests that come with an implied expectation of influence.

Sincerely,

Writing Points
