The San Ramon Valley Democratic Club is pleased to welcome Professor Reuel Schiller from the University of California Hastings Law School. Professor Schiller will discuss two subjects related to 2016 election: (1) The causes of white working-class disenchantment with the Democratic Party; and (2) What the Trump Administration will do to increase presidential power, and how Democrats can resist it.

51y2hcl3hhl Reuel Schiller is the Roger J. Traynor Professor of Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law where he teaches administrative law, labor law and American legal history. Professor Schiller is an award-winning legal historian whose work focuses on civil rights law, labor law, and the administrative state in twentieth-century America. His most recent book, Forging Rivals: Race, Class, Law and the Collapse of Postwar Liberalism, was the winner of the American Society for Legal History’s 2016 John P. Reid Award for the best book in American legal history. Professor Schiller lives in Albany, California with his wife, an art conservator, and two children.
