We are honored to have Congressman Eric Swalwell speak to us on Thursday, August 26. He is one of our favorite congressmen, as he is the Representative for more than one half of our SRVDC club members. The SRVDC club supported his campaign to run for Congress, District 15, back in 2012 and we were ecstatic that he won. He now serve He now serves on many important committees including the Judiciary Committee, the Intelligence Committee and the Homeland Security Committee. And, while serving on the Homeland Security Committee in his first term, he led a successful effort opposing a TSA proposal to allow certain knives aboard airplanes and advocated for enhancing airport perimeter security with innovative technological solutions.
This past year has been an emotional upheaval, and what stands out as an honor was when Eric was tapped to serve as an Impeachment manager.
Congressman Swalwell is also a leader in the House, serving as co-chair of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, which makes committee assignments and sets the caucus’ policy agenda. He also founded and is chairman emeritus of Future Forum, a group of almost 50 young Democratic Members of Congress focused on issues and opportunities for millennial Americans including student loan debt and home ownership.
