The San Ramon Valley Democratic Club is tremendously happy to welcome both Rebecca and Sabina at our May meeting. It is a busy time in Sacramento. Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan will speak on legislation that has recently passed and legislation that has been to proposed. She will also talk about the many committees on which she serves. We are excited to hear about how she is making a difference to improve people’s lives. Council Member Sabina Zafar will update us about what is happening in San Ramon, and her new ways she has implemented to keep in contact with her constituents
Rebecca is an accomplished attorney, environmental advocate, community volunteer, law professor and mother. A Bay Area native, she has dedicated her career and personal time to improving our community, solving complex problems, protecting civil rights and fighting to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed. As an attorney, Rebecca specialized in ensuring major corporations complied with environmental laws and regulations by leading internal investigations to improve their environmental practices, while maintaining profitability.
Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan was elected in 2018 to serve the 16th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Danville, Alamo and Moraga. Besides seving on seven Standing Committees, she serves on five Main Standing Committees: Banking & Finance, Environmental Safety & Toxic Materials, Privacy & Consumer Protection, Public Safety, Utilities & Energy.
Sabina Zafar was inaugurated into office in December 2018. She is an accomplished technology leader, community volunteer, mentor and mother. Sabina is wholeheartedly committed to giving back to her city. She has dedicated her career and personal time to improving our community, empowering women & girls to pursue STEM careers, helping make San Ramon the center of technology and innovation in the Bay Area, and promises to ensure transparency and inclusion in our local government for all residents.
Sabina holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems from the University of South Alabama. She is an Enterprise Architecture Leader at General Electric Digital in San Ramon, leading change and transformation through software in the Public Utilities industry.
