We are honored to have Congressman DeSaulnier speak to us on November 24. We welcome his progressive ideas and look forward to hearing about what is happening in Congress.

Congressman Mark DeSaulnier represents California’s 11th Congressional District. He was sworn-in as a member of the 114th Congress on January 6, 2015 and was appointed to serve on the Education and the Workforce and Oversight and Government Reform Committees.

Congressman DeSaulnier’s recent actions include:

  • Introduced Legislation to Preserve and Strengthen the Bureau of International Labor Affairs on November 2.
  • With Representative Maloney Released Documents Following DOJ Settlement with Purdue and Sackler Family on October 27.
  • Introduced a bill to Force Large Corporations to Confront and Address the True Cost of Closures and Layoffs on October 16.

  • Mark’s accomplishments also include passing legislation to expand the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, renaming the Richmond Main Post Office after a former Richmond Postmaster and distinguished member of the Richmond community; and facilitating the improvement of Contra Costa’s aging water infrastructure. He completed an Education Listening Tour, where he visited every school district and college in California’s 11th Congressional District and shared the findings with the Education and Labor Committee.

Mark is incredibly knowledgeable about history. He shares his reading list, urging us to read “Dark Money” by Nancy Mayer and “Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America” by Nancy MacLean. We look forward to his new book recommendations.
