Letter in Support of Michelle Petersen for School Board

Letter written by Chris Kenber in support of Michelle Petersen the East Bay Times on Friday, October 7, 2022.

San Ramon Valley schools need Petersen Among the three candidates for the only competitive San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board seat in November’s election, one candidate stands out.

Michelle Petersen has a long record of working in San Ramon Valley schools as a volunteer and PTA president. A former firefighter, she will bring exceptional leadership skills to the board.

Jesse Van Zee, one of her opponents, describes the teachers’ association as a “special interest group.” This disqualifies him as a serious candidate, and he has a clear right-wing agenda out of tune with the SRVUSD community.

Her other opponent, Jerome Pandell, has failed to win election in the past and is an ineffective campaigner.

As a former board member and chair of the facilities oversight committee for a number of years, I believe it’s important to elect Michelle Petersen. She is endorsed by many local and state officials — they trust her.
