Our club has sent a letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein on February 13, 2021.

Dear Senator Feinstein:

We at the San Ramon Valley Democratic Club are a group of around 200 of your devoted constituents in the East Bay. We are all most grateful your 50+ years of service to the people of California and your dedication to our shared Democratic values. Your legacy has been an inspiration to many successful women including our wonderful new Vice President.

It is therefore, with great respect and affection that we urge you to seriously consider retiring your Senate seat before the end of 2021. As you know, we cannot afford to lose even one Democratic member’s vote in the Senate if we are to implement President Biden’s critically important programs for the American people. Your early retirement would provide Governor Newsom the opportunity to appoint a replacement whom you would be able to mentor and help hit the ground running.

While we recognize that you might prefer to continue serving us all, sometimes retirement can be the greatest service. Consider how beneficial it might have been to America if that other great woman public servant, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, had retired before 2017.

We have every confidence in you and wish you every success with whatever you decide.
