6:00 PM Networking
6:30 PM Buffet Dinner
7:00 PM Program
Controller Yee is one of our club’s favorite speakers, because of her intelligence and insight in complex issues that are at relevant and timely. She will speak on how California can prepare for the next economic downturn, in this time of uncertainty and volatility.

Betty Yee has served as Controller since 2015. As the state’s chief fiscal officer, she chairs the Franchise Tax Board and serves as a member of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) Boards. Prior to being Controller Betty Yee served on the California State Board of Equalization from 2004-2015. She has over 30 years of experience in public finance and tax policy. In the past she served as the Chief Deputy Director for Budget in the California Department of Finance, leading the development of the Governor’s Budget, budget negotiations with key stakeholders, and fiscal analyses of legislation.

A native of San Francisco, Betty is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley and earned her Master’s in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

The San Ramon Valley Democratic Club is proud to have Betty Yee speak at our October meeting. All of of us value her acknowledgment of the corruption and potential of corruption in both Republican and Democratic candidates and elected officials, because of the power of money in political campaigns.

We gather at 6:00 PM for networking and socializing; 6:30 is the Buffet Dinner and the Program begins at 7:00 PM.
