The San Ramon Valley Democratic Club welcomes Retired Admiral Michael Baker who will plumb some of history to explain the failure of our foreign policy because of the heavy handed use of the military. Find out what happens “behind the scenes” between the military and the State Department.

Dr. Michael Baker has practiced general surgery and trauma for more than 35 years in Contra Costa County. He also had a parallel career in the military and teaches combat casualty care, triage, trauma, operational medicine, and response to complex disasters and humanitarian emergencies.

He has published over 60 peer reviewed articles, and has lectured at numerous national and international conferences and teaches at US military bases around the world. He also lectures on world events and serves on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Northern California.

Dr. Baker retired from the United States Navy with the rank of Rear Admiral after 30 years of uniformed service to his country, and was awarded his third Legion of Merit which he wears proudly alongside his US Marine Corps Combat Action ribbon and his Officer in Charge Riverine Warfare Pin.

In order to ensure that our ZOOM meetings are orderly and safe, there will be a requirement that only members of SRVDC will be able to join our meetings. Our annual dues are very low, only $25 per individual or $45 per family. The “stay at home” orders and/or the rules of opening our society will probably last for several months. As a member, you will also be able to attend future meetings.

Please note: we request that you pay membership dues only online at ActBlue. CLICK HERE to pay using ActBlue web site. This will allow our Board members to stay home, rather than visiting the Post Office.

If you intend to become a member and attend the meeting, please sign up for our SRVDC email newsletter that has all the protocol for meeting participants. Sign up for the email newsletter by emailing Brodie with your name and email address. CLICK HERE to sign up.
