  • What’s in the bipartisan 2011 Senate bill which the House has refused to consider
  • The legality of President Obama’s executive actions implementing DACA (Deferred Action for Child Applicants) and the latest DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents).

Nora Privitera worked 25 years as an immigration lawyer.  Her first 12 years were in private practice, first with James Mayock and Associates and then as a sole practitioner.  She covered all kinds of immigration issues in her practice, including business immigration, family immigration, deportation, applications for US citizenship, political asylum, and deportation defense.  In the last half of her career, she worked for the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) in San Francisco. Her duties included being the chief “Attorney of the Day,”  which entailed using her expertise in immigration law to advise other attorneys about their cases, in addition to conducting seminars and writing technical manuals on different topics in immigration law.  As part of her job, she also was a speaker at Federal Bar Association’s annual conference on immigration law. She is a recognized expert in immigration law. With her retirement in 2013, she continues to keep up on developments in immigration law and retains her membership in the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA).

Please join us at 6:15 pm to talk about the latest political news or to just socialize and have fun.
